Let’s see….. InterNations, an online community for international workers, conducted a survey encompassing over 12,000 expatriates across 49 cities.
1.MALAGÁ
We have topping the list is Malagá,
In the 2023 rankings, Malaga claimed the leading position, establishing itself as the premier city for expatriates to reside in. It earned the highest accolades for local friendliness, with 89% of survey respondents attesting to the amiable nature of Malagueños towards foreign residents. Furthermore, the city of Picasso secured the second spot globally in the quality of life index. The report also underscores Malaga’s favorable climate, picturesque natural surroundings, and diverse leisure options.
2. Alicante
Rounding out the top three are two additional Spanish cities, with Alicante securing the second position.
The publication notes Alicante’s distinction in offering affordable housing, Madrid, another Spanish urban center, secures the sixth position within the top ten cities.
The primary allure of Alicante lies in its consistently pleasant climate, embracing the region for around 320 days annually. The coastal area enjoys sunshine throughout the year, with only occasional weeks of rainfall. Characterized by mild summers and winters that resemble spring, coupled with a continuous supply of sunshine, it’s challenging to envision a gloomy day in Alicante. Such weather provides ample motivation for residents and visitors alike to indulge in outdoor activities.
Spaniards often opt to reside in proximity to the city center, particularly in the Poniente beach area, while a significant number of expatriates choose to settle in the Levante district. Commonly referred to as “The English district,” it attracts not only English residents but also a diverse mix of Dutch, Germans, and French expats. This blend of nationalities contributes to it’s distinctly international ambiance.
3. Valencia
Valencia is highlighted for its exceptional healthcare and affordable housing!
The majority of expatriates employed in Valencia find opportunities in the fields of education and hospitality. However, there are also openings in manufacturing for those possessing the necessary skills. Proficiency in Spanish is frequently a prerequisite for applicants, given that it serves as the primary language of business in the city.
